Prayer

St Peter’s

St Peter’s is usually open from 8.00am to midday each day for silent prayer and contemplation.

Morning prayer is said 15 minutes before weekday Mass using the books/pamphlets provided at the back of church.  The prayers are also available online1. Healing prayers for the sick of the parish and friends are said at St Peter’s on a regular basis (see newsletter for details).

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place, usually on the first Thursday of the month (see newsletter for details) and provides an opportunity for silent prayer in front of the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  All are welcome to come and pray and spend time with Him during this hour of adoration.

A group meets at St Peter’s on the second Wednesday of the month to pray together for sick friends and all who are listed as sick in the weekly Newsletter.

Members of our Indian community meet regularly for an evening of prayer, fellowship (and food).

Meditations on the Way of the Cross are held at St Peter’s every Friday afternoon in Lent.  (See the weekly newsletter for the arrangements.)

During the month of May, the rosary is said after Friday morning Mass at St Peter’s (see the newsletter for details).

St Elizabeth’s

During Advent, a Eucharistic Service is held at St Elizabeth’s on each Friday at 6.00pm during which an aspect of Advent is explored.  The Stations of the Cross is held on each Friday during Lent at 6.00pm (see newsletter for details).

Members of our congregations at St Peter’s and St Elizabeth’s also take part in ecumenical prayers, such as:

  • Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, 18-25 January, when a period of shared prayer is observed in each of Ludlow’s churches in turn, including a joint service at St Peter’s on the Sunday afternoon.
  • World Prayer Day, 1st Friday of March, usually prepared by women from the various churches.
  • Silent Walk of Witness by members of all churches in Ludlow on Good Friday morning, concluding with a joint service in Castle Square, Ludlow.
